How the estimate is made
Power is what it takes to lift rider and bike up the climb at that speed, against rolling resistance and air drag, with no wind and no drafting. W/kg divides it by the rider's published weight; a 3 kg error in weight moves W/kg by about 1 % and watts by about 4 %, which is why W/kg is the figure we show first.
Estimate against measured power
One dot per effort by a rider whose power meter file is public; on the diagonal the estimate equals the measurement.
